FBI shuts down the world’s largest library of pirated books

Federal prosecutors in the US have shut down the online e-book piracy website Z-Library and charged two Russian nationals who profited from operating the site, which claimed to have more than 11 million e-books available for download. 

Michael J. Driscoll, assistant director-in-charge for the FBI’s New York field office, said in a statement. “Intellectual property theft crimes deprive their victims of both ingenuity and hard-earned revenue. The FBI is determined to ensure those willing to steal and profit from the creativity of others are stopped and made to face the consequences in the criminal justice system.”
