Streaming and the return of wide-release film slates have helped drive steady increases in illicit viewing since 2020, according to new data from piracy-research company Muso.
The data company measured 215 billion global visits to piracy websites in 2022, an 18% increase on the previous year. TV content made up the biggest share of traffic (46.3%), and the vast majority of pirates are accessing their sites directly (65.4%), bypassing search engines or ads.
