The Wall Street Journal has reported on the growing trend of TikTok piracy whereby accounts on the platform are posting full episodes of TV shows and feature-length films in bite size clips that users can watch back to back. Finding the clips isn’t straightforward as the accounts posting them rely on TikTok’s algorithm to serve them up to users based on their past viewing.
Several TikTok users were interviewed for the article and admitted to a preference for watching films and TV shows on the social media platform as it removed the burden of having to search for something to watch and also brings together a community of other viewers who are watching and commenting in real time.
