Approximately 23 million U.S. adults (11%) pirated content in the last year, according to a recent YouGov survey. Respondents were asked whether they had pirated TV shows, movies or live sports in 2022.
Cost of content was the leading reason given for pirating, followed by content availability. And yet, 60% of respondents said they were aware that the pirated content they watched was also available on a legal streaming service.
