David Newhoff delves into the recent report, Money for Nothing, released by the Digital Citizens Alliance and TV Tech company NAGRA to understand what might drive more than nine millions Americans to pay subscriptions for pirated IPTV services.
These services are gateway to a whole host of online criminal activity, they will target their own paying customers with malware to be used for identify theft and credit card fraud and turn over IP addresses of their subscribers to be used in illegal activities like child pornography. With the scale at which these providers are growing, policymakers will have to pay close attention.
