MPA and ACE to embed anti-piracy personnel with U.S. Government IP Center (sic)

The Motion Picture Association and the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment, jointly announced on 07 February that their partnership with the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center would be expanded to include embedding personnel from MPA and ACE at the IPR Center in Washington D.C.

This come sat a pivotal time for the worldwide anti-piracy coalition, following the sentencing of George Bridi to 22 months in prison for his involvement in piracy activities with the Sparks Group.

Steve Francis, Executive Associate Director for Homeland Security Investigations, said that “without the private sector industry across all those sectors, we wouldn’t be very successful in our enforcement efforts.” The idea is that HSI field agents will have a “direct line” to MPA investigators on criminal digital piracy cases.
