by Content Cafe — 1 July 2024

Chris Chard, an accomplished screen executive with over 30 years in the industry, has become the Chair of anti-piracy group Creative Content Australia.

Chris has held senior roles at Village Roadshow, including Co-CEO of the Roadshow Films Group and CEO of Roadshow Entertainment and Roadshow TV. Chris led investment, content, and distribution deals with major producers like Warner Bros, HBO, Lionsgate and the BBC and secured supply deals with networks and streamers such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Foxtel and Nine.

Currently, he is the Executive Director of AHEDA, a Non-Exec Director at Citizens of the Reef, and an Exec Producer on various TV series and films.

Chris joins Creative Content Australia at a time when piracy rates remain high. According to a recent survey released by the Attorney-General’s Department unlawful viewing of film and TV continued to climb in 2023, to 28% and 23% respectively.

With a deep understanding of what it takes to develop creative content and get it to audiences, Chris will be well placed to lead CCA as it works to change consumer habits and improve awareness of copyright.
