UK authorities shut down 17 pirate services profiting from coronavirus “telly binge”

Authorities in the UK are responding to a nationwide “telly binge surge” by shutting down 17 illegal services. The services included illegal football and subscription streaming on Kodi and IPTV boxes.

The CEO of the Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) Kieron Sharp said: “Demand for content has increased over the last few months as people spend more time at home and criminals have been meeting that demand by providing illegal devices and services.

“FACT works closely with broadcasters and rights holders to identify the original source of illegal content and we employ a variety of techniques to tackle piracy.”
