UK government strategy slashed online piracy among 16 to 24-year-olds

Get it Right From A Genuine Site, a UK government-supported campaign featuring creators from the entertainment, comedy and music industries, has been highly effective in reducing online piracy among 16 to 24-year-old males.

The campaign, which emphasized how talent relies on legal downloads of their content for their survival, included spots on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat and creators’ social media.

For the first time in two years, movie piracy decreased from 43% to 34% while 47% of respondents said they would not consume content from illegitimate sites.
